My latest post describes my account of using spiritual hypnosis to meet my guides to seek guidance and wisdom. Guided by my amazing mentor, Mary Lee LaBay, I begin thinking about a question to ask.
‘What do I need to know about my spiritual path?‘
Although I received a message, I’m finding that deciphering its true meaning is not that easy. Writing, hence, this blog, is my go-to method to assist with discovering the wisdom that will begin unfolding. So, let me begin!
Spiritual hypnosis and my spiritual sanctuary
During a session of spiritual hypnosis, we begin by visualising ourselves in our very own spiritual sanctuary, or safe place. Mine is an actual place referred to as the Barrows, which is located in Heysham, Lancashire. Should you wish to discover more about my connection with the Barrows, please visit my Heysham Gallery.

It’s most definitely my safe place, or spiritual sanctuary. It provides me with a sense of peace, tranquillity, and such wonderful healing energy. It’s here that my body rests and recuperates while my energy body explores different dimensions, and lifetimes. This time however, it was strangely different, but with a more intense, positive feeling, which intrigues me to explore further.
Did this happen due to experiencing a shared guided experience with other students?
Perhaps the combined energies of myself and the other four students made it more vivid?
Thankfully, I know that I will find the answers following future sessions of self-hypnosis.
Sitting nearby the rock cut graves pictured above, the texture of the grass could be felt easily on my hands, while looking out across Morecambe Bay. The intense dark sky hangs above the fire red sky as the sun sets upon the horizon. These colours and the sensation of the breeze whirling around me are intensely vivid. I’m most definitely feeling a sense of magic in the air.
A gift of empowerment
Looking around me, I find an object, a small copper bowl that fits easily into the palm of my hand. Instantly, I’m feeling wonderfully connected with Mother Earth and I’m understanding that this gift of empowerment is grounding my energy. Suddenly, I get the feeling that I can easily climb snuggly into this bowl and feel so much safer. I don’t though, I simply enjoy these thoughts and the feelings they produce. I take my bowl with me as I begin venturing deeper into trance. On a side note, I handled a small copper bowl the week before. As a result, I believe it’s a message that I need to begin using it. Following a quick search on the spiritual and metaphysical meanings of copper, I find the following: –
Copper enhances our entire emotional field and properly grounds the higher vibrations around us into a physical realm. It is capable of helping us manifest our truest desires, while bringing about universal knowledge. Copper’s special ability is its process of igniting our true inner potential and connecting it with our personal will. With both of these forces aligned, the shining light within us can burst through to bridge the gap between the spiritual and physical realms – The Crystal Council – The Science and Origin of Copper
My journey continues and I find myself surrounded by beautiful pink, faux fur fabrics. I’m feeling completely supported and safe before finding myself sat in a circle. Here, I’m contently gazing upon the flickering of flames from a large bonfire.
Time to meet my guides
Surrounding the bonfire are my ancestors, guides, and spirits. I don’t see them, but I hear them and I’m aware of how they are moving in rhythm. I am most definitely feeling their energy.
My quest is to meet with my guide to receive wisdom about my spiritual path. However, for a brief moment, I fear not being able to do this. This is such a critical moment! If I allow my conscious mind to break my trance like state, I will block my experience. I refocus back on the flames and the presence of spirit. As a result, the spirit of my grandad comes forward.
He guides me to a beach, and I begin observing my surroundings. I notice how I’m standing on an old stone path that ventures ahead of me towards the sea. The tide is out, but funnily enough, the sea would be parted by this path that I’m standing on.
As I continue surveying the vast expanse of beach, I begin noticing the figure of a man in the distance. He stands alone with a staff, wearing robes while facing away from me, head slightly down. I begin thinking of the Rider Waite Smith tarot cards, most notably, the suit of wands.
I get a feeling of the body not being animated with life, but he is not dead, more like paused. Subsequently, I now see others spreading out as far as my eyes can see. Am I inspired by Antony Gormley’s, Another Place?

I ask my grandad for the meaning of this. He answers, “the vibration of life is love and to never forget this“. Then he tells me, “I do love your mother“.
Concluding spiritual hypnosis to meet my guides
Firstly, I’m wondering right now if I have chosen to forget that love is the vibration of life. Self-introspection is always difficult and I’m thinking of the hermit. I’m also strongly aware that I need to meditate with the copper bowl.
Secondly, the vast expanse of beach without water is interesting. I believe that this symbolises an openness to explore however, it’s the figures that are drawing me in. The figure reminds me of the three of wands from the Rider Waite tarot deck. The only exception is that there is only one staff and the figure’s head is bowed down, which provides me with a negative feeling. It’s a feeling of emptiness.

One needs to be open to explore and create their spiritual path. Perhaps this reminds me to adopt such principles but moreover, love the journey that I am on!
These figures are somehow closed to the vibration of love. Suddenly, I become aware of my mother and grandads’ poor relationship. It just goes to show how writing assists with gaining answers.
My mistake is thinking that I am somehow closing myself off to the vibration of love. It’s bizarre as I know that I’m not but, I know that my mother does. She dislikes her father and now I’m presented with the task of passing this message on. It must be for her benefit. Also, my left cheek has started twitching, which is a new thing for me. Perhaps this is a sign to trust my intuition?
Your father loves you
Well, I put it to my mother, and she doesn’t believe it or as I stated to her, perhaps she’s refusing to believe it. She is however, open to such spiritual experiences, but her dislike of her father is very strong.
I began by explaining what I was doing and what I saw. When I talked to her about the figures and referred to them as Gormley’s, Another Place, she told me that it’s just been on the television. That for me is a sign!
I suggested that perhaps it was a result of fear on my grandad’s part that caused her and my grandad to fall out. I’m also surmising that perhaps she needs to forgive and let go of holding onto negative feelings. She then asked me to do some further work and see what comes through as her dad will have to try harder to convince her. I smiled and refused as I do believe that my job is complete. Also, it’s not my role to change her feelings.
There’s a phrase that comes to mind, ‘love never dies‘!
I don’t know if this is true but I do like to think that love is a strong foundation. Also, I’m a fan of Bram Stoker’s, Dracula, especially the film starring Gary Oldman and Wynona Ryder.
Final thoughts
I know that I will figure out more as I progress forward with my studies. For now, I will take away the knowledge and wisdom gained from interpreting such symbols, and imagery. I am on the right path, and it does not need to be an isolated journey. Enjoy the process of learning with others and enjoy the vibration of love!
