What is EFT?

EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique or ‘tapping’ as it is commonly known, is a relatively new therapy that was created in 1995 by founder, Gary Craig. You can find out more about him on his website www.emofree.com.

The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.

Gary Craig – Founder of EFT

Specifically, EFT tapping works on correcting the disruption within your energy body. Moreover, you will not be tapping out a memory that could present issues of trauma. You will be tapping on the imbalance of energy that ultimately can bring a sense of overall peace.

Chinese acupuncturists work on the same principle but instead of tapping, they use needles. Basically. they place these needles at certain points within your ‘meridians’ that feed energy to all parts of your body. Indeed, it’s this process that corrects the disruption of energy therefore providing balance.

EFT tapping along with repeating positive phrases is of course, less invasive and it’s easy to learn.

EFT has been extensively investigated for anxiety and depression. In the first large-scale study of 5000 patients seeking treatment for anxiety across 11 clinics over a 5.5-year period, patients received either traditional anxiety treatment in the form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with medication if needed, or acupoint tapping with no medication.26 An improvement was found in 90% of patients who received acupoint tapping therapy compared to 63% of the CBT participants.
